Privacy Policy (Recomil)

Note: The Japanese version is the authoritative version. In case of any discrepancy, the Japanese version shall prevail.

The Operator establishes the following Privacy Policy (hereinafter “this Policy”) regarding the handling of users’ personal information in the app “Recomil” and related services (hereinafter “the Service”).

Article 1 (Personal Information)

“Personal information” refers to “personal information” as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, meaning information about a living individual that can identify a specific individual through name, date of birth, address, telephone number, email address, or other descriptions contained in such information, as well as data relating to appearance, fingerprints, voiceprints, health insurance card insurer numbers, and other information that can identify a specific individual from that information alone (personal identification information).

Article 2 (Methods of Collecting Personal Information)

The Operator may collect the following information when users use the Service:

  1. Account information (email address, username, etc.)
  2. Subscription information (purchase status, renewal status, etc.)
  3. Device information (OS, device model, language settings, IP address, etc.)
  4. Usage information (access logs, feature usage history, crash information, etc.)
  5. Inquiry contents
  6. Other information voluntarily provided by users

Note that payment information (credit card numbers, etc.) is processed by the stores (Apple/Google), and the Operator does not retain such information.

Article 3 (Purposes of Collecting and Using Personal Information)

The Operator collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

  1. To provide and operate the Service
  2. To respond to inquiries from users (including identity verification)
  3. To provide information about new features, updates, campaigns, etc. of the Service
  4. To contact users as necessary for maintenance, important notices, etc.
  5. To identify users who violate the Terms of Service or who attempt to use the Service for fraudulent or improper purposes, and to refuse their use
  6. To allow users to view, change, or delete their registered information, and to view their usage status
  7. To manage subscriptions for paid services
  8. For purposes incidental to the above

Article 4 (Changes to Purpose of Use)

  1. The Operator shall change the purpose of use of personal information only when reasonably deemed to be related to the purpose before the change.
  2. When the purpose of use is changed, the Operator shall notify users of the changed purpose by the method prescribed by the Operator or announce it on the Service.

Article 5 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

  1. The Operator shall not provide personal information to third parties without obtaining the prior consent of users, except in the following cases. However, this excludes cases permitted by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other laws.
    1. When necessary to protect the life, body, or property of a person and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
    2. When particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
    3. When it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, local government, or a person entrusted by them in executing affairs prescribed by laws and regulations, and obtaining consent of the individual may impede the execution of such affairs
  2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, in the following cases, the recipient of such information shall not be considered a third party:
    1. When the Operator outsources all or part of the handling of personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use
    2. When personal information is provided due to succession of business through merger or other reasons

Article 6 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

  1. When requested by an individual to disclose their personal information, the Operator shall disclose it to the individual without delay. However, if disclosure falls under any of the following, the Operator may choose not to disclose all or part of it, and when such decision is made, the individual shall be notified without delay.
    1. When there is a risk of harming the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or a third party
    2. When there is a risk of significantly impeding the proper execution of the Operator’s business
    3. When it would violate other laws and regulations
  2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, information other than personal information, such as history information and characteristic information, shall not be disclosed in principle.

Article 7 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

  1. If the personal information held by the Operator is incorrect, users may request the Operator to correct, add, or delete (hereinafter “correction, etc.”) the personal information through procedures established by the Operator.
  2. When the Operator receives a request from a user under the preceding paragraph and determines that it is necessary to comply with such request, the Operator shall make the correction, etc. of the relevant personal information without delay.
  3. When the Operator makes a correction, etc. based on the preceding paragraph, or makes a decision not to make a correction, etc., the Operator shall notify the user without delay.

Article 8 (Suspension of Use of Personal Information)

  1. When the Operator is requested by an individual to suspend or delete (hereinafter “suspension of use, etc.”) the use of personal information on the grounds that the personal information is being handled beyond the scope of the purpose of use or was obtained by fraudulent means, the Operator shall conduct the necessary investigation without delay.
  2. Based on the results of the investigation in the preceding paragraph, if the Operator determines that it is necessary to comply with the request, the Operator shall suspend the use, etc. of the relevant personal information without delay.
  3. When the Operator suspends use, etc. based on the preceding paragraph, or makes a decision not to suspend use, etc., the Operator shall notify the user without delay.
  4. Notwithstanding the preceding two paragraphs, if suspension of use, etc. would involve significant costs or is otherwise difficult to implement, and alternative measures can be taken to protect the rights and interests of the user, such alternative measures shall be taken.

Article 9 (Cookies, etc.)

The Service may use cookies and similar technologies within the app and on related websites. These are used to improve convenience and for analysis purposes.

Article 10 (Data Storage Location and International Transfer)

Data from the Service is stored on servers in Japan and the United States. By using the Service, users consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of their information in these countries.

Article 11 (Retention Period)

The Operator retains personal information for the period necessary for the purpose of use or for the period required by laws and regulations.

Article 12 (Personal Information of Minors)

Minors should use the Service with the consent of their parent or guardian. Persons under the age of 13 may not use the Service.

Article 13 (Security)

The Operator takes reasonable security measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of personal information. However, complete security cannot be guaranteed for communication over the Internet or electronic storage methods.

Article 14 (Changes to Privacy Policy)

  1. The content of this Policy may be changed without notifying users, except for matters otherwise provided for in laws and regulations or this Policy.
  2. Unless otherwise specified by the Operator, the revised Privacy Policy shall take effect when posted on the Service.
  3. In the case of significant changes, the Operator shall provide advance notice through appropriate means.
